2019 Hyundai Santa Fe Gets An Impressive Makeover
Recently, Hyundai invited a group of media to Montgomery, Alabama for a tour of the Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Alabama plant. The trip gave us a chance to be mesmerized by the advances in technology of auto manufacturing, along with some seat time in the 2019 Hyundai Sante Fe.
After a morning tour of HMMA, where 3,000 Team Members work alongside over 400 robots to assemble the Hyundai Sonata, Elantra and Sante Fe, we drove the all new Santa Fe along the rural roads of Alabama. By the way, if you’re ever in Montgomery, AL the same tour is open to the public with reservations, and offers a fascinating behind the scenes look at automotive manufacturing.
Now, back to the main attraction, the 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe-the SUV previously known as the Santa Fe Sport. But, Hyundai’s best selling SUV has many more changes than just its name. The five passenger SUV has undergone a makeover on its exterior and interior, with the end result producing a bold exterior and refined interior packed with technology.
Known for producing vehicles packed with content and features for an affordable price tag, the Santa Fe has even more standard features.
“The new Santa Fe underlines our commitment to safety through new standard features like Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist, Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist and Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist,” said Mike O’Brien, vice president, product, corporate and digital planning, Hyundai Motor America. “We have been a leader in adopting key safety features into our vehicles at attractive prices. Families are going to really appreciate Santa Fe’s blend of technology, interior space and striking looks.”
Hyundai’s Santa Fe is available in six trims with the SE 2.4 starting at $25,500. Buyers choosing the SE will get a 2.4-liter four-cylinder under the hood paired with an eight-speed transmission. Step up to the Ultimate and Limited trims and for $1600 you can upgrade the engine to a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with 235 horses.
The Ultimate trim level gives Santa Fe buyers an SUV with luxury features for a value price tag. As a Mom, I’m a big fan of having a vehicle equipped with a surround view monitor, but on the Santa Fe its only available on the premium trims. Another feature I loved was the full color heads up display, which helped me keep my speed at bay on the country roads of Alabama.
Overall, the 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe offers buyers a solid choice for a five passenger SUV with plenty of cargo space for families and an IIHS Top Safety Pick +.
