2016 Dodge Journey Crossroad: Rugged & Versatile
Before you get inside the 2016 Dodge Journey Crossroad, take a moment to look at the outside profile. Start with the split-cross-hair honeycomb grille, jeweled wraparound headlamps, fog lamps and highly sculpted front fascia. Then notice its rugged stance, the five doors, and the all-new ring-of-fire LED tail lamps.
All this beauty sits atop distinctive 19-inch X 7.0 hyper black aluminum wheels. The Journey has a monochromatic exterior and dual exhaust with bright tips.
The 2016 Dodge Journey Crossroad seats seven, with plenty of room for everyone. The Journey is versatile. It has connectivity to work. It can travel isolated back roads. It can speed comfortably on super highways. There’s even plenty of storage to bring the family and essentials along.
The Journey is powered by a 3.6-liter V-6 24-valve VVT engine and is married to a 6-speed automatic 62 TE transmission. The power train delivers 283 horsepower and delivers impressive enough mileage, allowing you to travel over 500 miles on a tank of gas.
The AWD engine is efficient and capable, getting 24-mpg highway and 16-mpg city. My week of driving averaged a little over 20-mpg.
The 4.3 inch touch screen display with Uconnect voice command with Bluetooth, Sirius XM satellite radio is easy to command. The 3-zone temperature control air conditioning keeps you cool and refreshed regardless of the temperature outside.
Light gray accent stitching and leather wrapped steering wheel and shift knob add to the color coordination and luxurious look of the inside cabin.
There is more than enough room for driver and passengers. Second-row storage is more than adequate, with rear reclining/ fold flat seats. Second-row 40/60 seating with fore/aft adjust, all working together for passenger space and comfort.
My Journey had optional equipment that could be purchased and added to the manufacturer’s suggested retail price of $29,950.
The Preferred Optional Package at $1,100 consisted of the touchscreen display upgrade from the standard 4.3-inch to a large 8.4-inch. Additional seat storage and power 6-way driver’s seat and power 4-way driver’s lumbar adjust helps get the pilot settled in comfort, even when the journey is long.
Sometimes it is the little things that make the most difference between a good vehicle and a great one. Take cup holders for example. Cup holders are like happy children – always a comfort. In the Dodge Journey, cup holders are conveniently located on the rear quarter panel. They are large enough to accommodate 20-oz. drinks or even juice boxes. There are illuminated cup holders between the front seats. Two more cup holders can be found on the second-row pull-down armrests. There is a deep, easy access floor cup holder as well. There is a 115/150-watt two-prong power outlet within easy reach.
Whatever your needs in a quality vehicle, Journey answers them. Whether to chauffeur the kids to school, provide an enjoyable ride for a vacation destination, or just be dependable transportation to dinner and a movie, Journey will fill those needs inexpensively.
