Duncanville Chamber of Commerce members, Mayor Barry Gordon and other city officials turned out in large numbers September 5 to welcome the new La Quinta Inn & Suites to town. General Manager Nick Patel and his staff hosted the community members with lunch catered by Subway, followed by tours of the sparkling new property.

The four-story hotel has 88 guest rooms, an indoor pool, and a community meeting room. It features the latest La Quinta design, and is located on the southeast corner of Cockrell Hill and Highway 67.

Room prices are listed on their website starting at $95. The room price includes a complimentary hot breakfast every morning.

Also featured in the new La Quinta are the chain’s exclusive Bright Morning Bed® with pillow-top mattress. Spacious in-room work areas are provided along with business centers and a community meeting room.

Duncanville Chamber of Commerce President Steve Martin and chamber members also held a ribbon cutting ceremony September 10 for the grand opening of new Duncanville Nail Salon. The nail salon is located in the old Bank of America building at 220 South Cedar Ridge.

The monthly networking happy hour event, “Fun after Five, will be held September 20 from 5-7 p.m. at the Duncanville Field House, 1700 S. Main Street, in the second floor event room. The free event hosted by the Field House includes food samplings from their grill, door prizes, and tours of the venue.

The chamber’s annual gala, “The King at the Ranch,” will be September 22 at Eddie Deen’s Ranch, S. Lamar Street in Dallas. Tickets are $100 to the fundraiser, which includes a BBQ dinner and a performance by Elvis tribute artist Kraig Parker.
