2016 Mazda CX-9 Wins Full Size CUV of Texas

Have you driven a Mazda lately? Driving Matters is more than a slogan, its a promise the engineers from Mazda are set on giving their customers. While Mazda knows they’re the runt of the litter, their vehicles stand out for style, performance and fuel efficiency.

Excitement beamed from Gulf Region Mazda PR Manager Jamie Tinsley’s face when TAWA announced the 2016 Mazda CX-9 won the Crossover Utility Vehicle of Texas at the 2016 Texas Truck Rodeo awards dinner.

“Mazda has always delivered vehicles that punch above their weight. The all-new CX-9 exemplifies this in a term we call Mazda Premium, and this win is a testament to the evolution of the brand and the strides we have taken toward a more premium positioning.” Jamie Tinsley, Gulf Region, PR Manager, MNAO

The off-road portion of the rodeo involved drivers selecting from three courses scattered around 1,650 acres of steep hills, ravines, streams and other obstacles – not to mention a wide array of exotic animals as they grazed throughout the property.

Style, Performance & Personal Appeal Takes All New Mazda CX-9 To The Next Level

“Mazda’s all-new CX-9 earned class-leading marks from our judges particularly in exterior styling, premium interior finishes, the performance of the new SKYACTIV-G 2.5T powertrain and overall personal appeal in the highly competitive full-size CUV category,” said Nic Phillips, Texas Auto Writers Association President. “Mazda’s CX-9 is a combination of sleek style with exciting, driver rewarding dynamics and family efficiency which makes for an award winning package, one that carried the CX-9 to be our runner-up for the overall CUV of Texas award.”

“We couldn’t be prouder to have the all-new Mazda CX-9 pass the tough muster of the Texas Auto Writers Association to win its class at the Texas Truck Rodeo.”

“Whether it’s class-leading fuel-efficiency, the punchy performance of the turbocharged SKYACTIV engine or its beautiful, crafted interior and exterior, CX-9 delivers an unbeatable combination in its class. We thank TAWA for believing in it as much as we do.” Jacob Brown Product Communications at Mazda North America

In the decade since the first Mazda CX-9 made its world debut, it has transformed the full-size CUV segment and is the brand’s grandest expression of KODO – Soul of Motion design. The 2016 model year offers innovative technologies, premium and authentic materials and is simply fun to drive with a focus on overall driver experience.

2016 Mazda CX-9 Could Go All The Way

The Texas Truck Rodeo win comes on the heels of the announcement that the 2016 Mazda CX-9 made the shortlist of nominees for the 2017 World Car of the Year. It’s great momentum for the Mazda brand considering the 2016 MX-5 won two awards for World Car of the Year and World Car Design of the Year earlier this year.

Mazda North American Operations is proud of its award-winning vehicle line-up. The 2016 model year vehicles have already earned more than 100 industry accolades.
