Suspect Involved In Rose Park Shooting Arrested
From the Mansfield Police Department: “When a critical incident occurs in our great city, we can always count on our community to come together, step up, and assist us in any way possible. Over the weekend, we received numerous tips and each one is carefully researched and vetted.
Early this morning with the help of several valid leads, Detectives were able to identify the suspect in the shooting that occurred in the 300 block of Walnut Creek (Katherine Rose Park) on Saturday night. Within a couple of hours right before lunch, Officers along with our Fugitive Task Force arrested Gregory Holmes III without incident. Holmes is charged with Aggravated Assault with a deadly weapon and a confirmed Warrant out of another agency for evading arrest with a vehicle.
Holmes was transported and processed in our city jail. It should be noted that Gregory Holmes III is 17-years-old and in the State of Texas, due to his age, he is considered to be an adult and will be charged appropriately. We would like to thank you, our community, for sharing our posts and coming forward with information that assisted our Detectives in a quick arrest.”
Argument On Basketball Court Led To Shooting
Saturday evening Mansfield Police Department responded to a shots fired call at Katherine Rose Park. Mansfield Police on Sunday said, based on information from witnesses, there was a brief argument on the basketball court. Following the argument, the suspect went into his backpack and retrieved a handgun. He then proceeded to shoot multiple times and struck the victim three times. The victim is 18-years-old and he is hospitalized in stable condition with non-life-threatening injuries. The suspect is a black male, thin build, wearing shorts with no shirt and Russell Westbrook sneakers. He also had dreadlocks with a bun in the front and long in the back.
