DeSoto ISD Hosts Campus Goals Night To Kick Off School Year

DESOTO—Each year, DeSoto ISD schools host a Goals Night for parents and students to start off the new school year. Campus Goals Night is an opportunity to welcome and introduce campus staff, share goals for the district and campus, and gives parents time to visit with their student’s teachers.

This very important night sets the tone for the entire instructional year. We encourage all families to attend and participate in this unique evening.

Goals Night will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at each school.
•Tuesday, August 23 – Middle Schools
•Wednesday, August 24 – Elementary Schools
•Thursday, August 25 – DeSoto High School

Amber Terrace Discovery & Design Early Childhood Academy will be hosting an event on a different night to avoid a conflict for those students with siblings at an elementary school.

“We hope parents will make every effort to attend this unique night at their child’s school,” said Dr. David Harris, DeSoto ISD Superintendent of Schools. “We know our parents want to be engaged, and this is the first major opportunity of the year to meet their campus staff and classroom teachers and to engage in the crucial conversations that change schools and school districts. We expect our parents to be educational partners – that means students come to school ready to learn. Parents have a vital role shaping how students behave in school and regarding their education in general. By encouraging children to read, complete homework, and pursue opportunities, parents become partners with DeSoto ISD and everyone wins!”

Campus Goals night provides parents with opportunities to engage as room moms, PTA members, committee representatives, and parenting resources for every situation.

Campus staff will help parents log on to the Parent Portal program to access student grades, attendance, plus update contact information for emergencies, and much more.
