Bring the Family to Smokin’ Blues BBQ Festival in Duncanville For Championship BBQ

Smokin’ Blues & BBQ Festival, featuring championship barbecue cooking, live musicians, arts, crafts and food vendors, plus family activities returns to Armstrong Park in Duncanville Oct. 19-20. This popular event offers a lot of entertainment and fun for everyone in the family, for only $10 per day (kids 12 and under free).

Friday night gates open at 5 p.m., with the All Star Blues Benefit Concert featuring more than 30 International Blues artists hosted by Andrew Jr. Boy Jones and Kerrie Lapai Jones from 6-10 p.m. Featured musicians include Bnois King, Mike Morgan, Greg A. Smith, Tommy the Thrill Hill, Curt Jones, Jamil Byrom, Tim T Lee Waites, John Street, Charges Sugar Boy Meyers, Lil Jay Barret, Richard Martinez, Mike King, Bill Cornish, Killa Bug, Shawn Phares, Bill Eden, and the Stanley Brothers.

Gates open Saturday at 10 a.m., followed by a full day of live music with a variety of styles and artists. The schedule includes a Kid’s Cook-off at 10 a.m.; Arts and Crafts vendors; a car show; Great American Cook-off cooking demonstrations and free samples; and The Ticket live radio broadcast from noon to 2 p.m. (AM 1310 and FM 96.7).

From 3-4:30 p.m. Saturday, the People’s Choice BBQ Tasting offers samples from the award-winning barbecue cooks in the competition. The BBQ cook-off is sponsored by Wagyu Excelente, Kansas City Barbecue Society, Jack Daniels World Championship Invitational Barbecue, and the City of Duncanville. Tickets to the tasting are an additional $10 each.

Saturday’s music lineup features Jay-B & the Zydeco Posse at 12 noon; Larry Lampkin at 1:30 p.m.; and Ally Venable Band at 3 p.m. The Power House Women of the Blues (Lady Lotion, Kerrie Lepai Jones, Joyce Spencer, Lady T, and Ceci Jones) perform a concert at 6 p.m. At 8 p.m. the Peterson Brothers close out the live musical entertainment for the festival.
