Dru Hill, Don Diego To Headline Event

DESOTO—Summer is a special time for relaxation, fun in the sun and spending quality time with family. With the hectic lives that many people lead, it is difficult to experience any of those things, if at all. When an event comes along that can offer all of these things and so much more, it is hard to pass up.

Luckily for residents of DeSoto, Lancaster and the surrounding area, that event is the Independence Day Fireworks Celebration. On July 1, celebrate the anniversary of our country’s birth with a good-time party for all ages. At the newly renovated Meadow Creek Park, a variety of activities from face painting to bounce houses will be available to youth.

The Independence Fireworks Celebration isn’t just for kids. Live concerts from acts like R&B group Dru Hill and Jazz Saxophonist Don Diego will be there for the adults to relax and enjoy some good music.

Finally, there’s the food. A summer event can’t be complete without the food! Local food vendors will be in attendance to offer everything from hot dogs, corny dogs, drinks and other carnival style foods to satisfy the hunger that is sure to come.

Finally, this event wouldn’t live up to its namesake if it didn’t have any fireworks! The fireworks show will happen at approximately 9:45 p.m. after the sunset. Come and watch as the night skies light up red, white and blue!

Independence Day Partnership

This event is made possible by the municipal collaboration of the cities of Lancaster and DeSoto. Interchangeably, both cities host this event through shared resources to make it the best show possible. This event is open to everyone, meaning that you can bring your friends, cousins and anyone else who may enjoy a safe, family-friendly event!

As if things couldn’t get any better, the price of admission to the Independence Day Fireworks Celebration is $0. Yes, that’s right! It’s free! Blankets and lawnchairs are welcome to ensure comfort on what is sure to be a hot summer day.

If you want to get there early, the gates open at approximately 4 p.m. But, the real action starts at 6 p.m.

The event will be held on Saturday July, 1st from 6 to 10 p.m. While the Independence Day Fireworks is meant to celebrate America’s 241st birthday, this event is also a prime opportunity for families to spend quality time with each other.
